A Clear Vision and a Strong Future for Garden City
It’s Time to Act on St. Pauls
We have delayed long enough. It’s time to take action so our village can move forward. We will replace the St. Paul’s building with a beautiful St. Paul’s park-- creating much needed green space for residents of all ages, while continuing the parkland designation.
Preserve the clock tower as a defining landmark and centerpiece of the park, if at all possible.
Honor our history by preserving and repurposing key architectural elements throughout the Village.
Keep Cluett Hall & the Gymnasium and complete all essential updates, ensuring these vital community resources are safe and functional.
Responsible Leadership. Responsible Finances
Village debt is rising. This is not sustainable.
We must distinguish between “needs and wants”. We will support critical village needs such as supporting our outstanding volunteer fire department and ensuring that they have the tools and equipment needed to continue keeping our community safe.
We will make transparent, fiscally responsible decisions to rein in spending, slow the growth of taxes and protect the long-term financial health of Garden City. Let’s fund our future destiny, not our history.
Protect the Character of Our Village
Garden City is special—and worth protecting. We support an immediate end to further lot subdivisions. Our population density already exceeds that of comparable communities. We will strengthen zoning laws to stop overdevelopment and preserve the charm of our neighborhoods.
Additional efforts will include:
Enforcing codes throughout the Village to protect quality of life
Continuing implementation of traffic calming efforts
Preserving green spaces and expanding our tree canopy
Continuing work with businesses to improve and beautify our business districts
Supporting improvements and expansion of programming at the GC Library
No Casino. Not Now. Not Ever.
While Sands Las Vegas has withdrawn its bid for a casino at the Hub (Nassau Coliseum), the land was rezoned last June, leaving the door open for potential casino or slot operations. We will stay vigilant—and we will stand firm against any casino development that threatens our community.
Together we can shape a sustainable future for Garden City, honoring our past while looking forward to a vibrant, affordable future.
